The documentary film Cosplay Dreams 3D, which examines the fascinating and highly visual world of costume play, will host back-to-back panel discussions, an interactive 3D exhibit, and a theatrical screening in 3D during the WonderCon convention Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Cosplay is short for “Costume Play”, a growing worldwide phenomenon in which millions of ordinary people called “Cosplayers” create costumes to emulate and pay homage to their favorite anime, comic book, video game, TV, film and manga (Japanese comic book) characters.

The film has begun its festival and theatrical screening circuit, recently winning “Best Documentary” at the Los Angeles 3D Film Festival. The film features inspiring stories, amazing visual effects-driven dream sequences, and an all-star cast of Cosplay celebrities: Cosplay superstar Yaya Han (Heroes of Cosplay, SyFy), Cosplayer to the stars “Fanboy Brandon” Hillock (My Big Fat Geek Wedding, SyFy), singer/songwriter and YouTube sensation Traci Hines, Cosplay diversity activist Ginger Burton, and hundreds of other costume artists. Previous screening events have become a rallying point for the convention community, as past events have inspired hundreds of audience attendees to come to screenings dressed in costume.

“We’ve been we’ve been blown away by the support of the convention community” comments

Director Gulliver Parascandolo, “the fans are lining up at our convention booths and at the theater, dressed in costume, and many veteran and newbie Cosplayers alike have told us they’ve never seen anything like this on the big screen.”

The documentary filmmakers will host two back-to-back panels at WonderCon: “Adding Special Effects to Cosplay Photos and Video” at 1pm on Saturday, April 4, and “From Cosplayer to Hollywood Creative” at  2pm on Saturday, April 4. These panels will feature visual effects and Photoshop artists, Hollywood costume designers, prop makers, and other entertainment creatives who have turned their Cosplay hobby into a profession.

The film’s producers are also excited to announce an alliance with Stream TV Networks, developer of the award-winning Ultra-D glasses-free 3D display technology that will be integrated into consumer products by various brand partners later this year. Selected scenes from Cosplay Dreams 3D will be shown on a 65″ Ultra-D Glasses-Free 3D TV.

The Cosplay Dreams 3D booth featuring the Ultra-D display will be at booth #1852 inside the Anaheim Convention Center April 3 – April 5. The panel discussions will be held in the Elite Ballroom, lobby level, of the Marriott Hotel across the street from WonderCon (700 W Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802), at 1PM and 2PM on Saturday, April 4.  The 3D screening will be held at the UltraLuxe Theater across the street from WonderCon, at 11:30AM April 5 (Anaheim Gardenwalk, 321 W Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802).
