Netflix’s Death Note Trailer is Here

Death NoteNetflix to release film based on the manga/anime Death Note on August 25th

By Nolan P. Smith

Death Note is a global phenomenon. The anime was amazing, the live action films were superb, the manga is fantastic- and now, the Netflix original movie will be hitting the ‘net on August 25th, check out the trailer now!

The premise, for those that don’t know, is that brilliant student Light finds a mystical notebook one day that has the power to kill anyone who’s name is written in it. This sends Light on a one man war against criminals, and sets up for a confrontation with the best detective in the business: L. The trailer looks great, and there will be some changes from the source material: like Light’s last name now being Turner instead of Yagami. However, as long as the essence of the anime and manga live on, I’m all in.

The Netflix original film is directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, You’re Next) and stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Shea Whigham (American Hustle) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man). Death Note will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 25th.
