Spider-Man is Officially Coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

SPIDER-MAN 3

By Nolan P. Smith

After years and years of April Fools jokes and rumors, it has finally happened: Marvel’s web slinging super hero is coming home.

Announced today, Spider-Man will be making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as a deal was reached today with Marvel and Sony. The deal states that Spider-Man will swing into a Marvel film first to make his grand entrance, and will be followed by a Sony Spider-Man film to be released on July 28th, 2017. That film will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and seasoned team at Marvel as well as Amy Pascal, who helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the beginning. Sony will continue to have the final call on the direction Spider-Man films go.

What does this mean? Civil War might closer resemble the Civil War comics after all, as Spider-Man was a centerpiece of the storyline. This also means that Spider-Man will be in the midst of the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, and more. As a lifelong Marvel fan, this news is amazing!!! Spider-Man deserves to be in the hallowed halls of Marvel films, and now old web head can claim his spot.

This also means a whole new direction for the Spider-Man franchise. What do you think about this massive announcement?
