(Victor Valley)—Who loves comic books? Who loves free comic books? Then this Saturday is going to be a great day for you as the annual Free Comic Book Day is coming, with two locations to choose from in the High Desert.

What is Free Comic Book Day? It is a day dedicated to raising the awareness of comic books by introducing readers to new and exciting books and storylines. Taking place all across North America since 2002, it is day where comic book publishers, from the large publishers to the independents, create special issues just for this day, and give them out at no cost. This year’s offerings include titles from Marvel, which is providing special editions of the Avengers and Captain America, to DC Comics, which will be offering a book centered around the Suicide Squad . Dark Horse Comics will have a special issue featuring stories starring Hellboy, Alien, and the cast of Serenity, and Titan will have a special issue of Doctor Who, featuring four incarnations of the famed Doctor. Of course, offerings will vary depending on the comic book shop you visit, and books are poised to scooped up fast.

Free Comic Book Day takes place the first Saturday of May each year, and this year, we have two comic book shops to choose from in the High Desert. In Victorville, we have QBC Toys & More, located off of Hesperia Road. In Hesperia, we have Comic Cult HD, which is located off of I Ave. Both shops will have a variety of books to choose from, just make sure you attend early to ensure you get some of these high quality comic books before they run out. Both stores boast very active social media presences- for addresses and contact information, check them out on Facebook.
