Let’s Kickstart This! Wolverton: Thief of Impossible Objects Issue #2
It is time once again, jump head first into the shallow end of the internet and find some of the best campaigns in crowdfunding by way of the ever popular website, Kickstarter. This time, I am shining the spotlight down on a second issue of a comic series I wasn’t aware of. So let’s check out Wolverton: Thief of Impossible Objects.
So, what’s it all about? Here is the info straight from Kickstarter:
“In turn of the century London, Jack Wolverton, gentleman thief, specializes in stealing the arcane, the accursed and the occultic. With war about to break out, only he can stop the world’s most powerful artifacts (The Monkey’s Paw, The Hope Diamond and the Portrait of Dorian Gray) from falling into the wrong hands!
Wolverton, Thief of Impossible Objects is a fresh but familiar take on a beloved literary trope, the Gentleman Thief. We’ve seen his likes before: Raffles, Arsene Lupin, The Saint, Catwoman, Gambit and Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief.”
Created and written by Michael Stark and Terrell T. Garrett, with art for the second issue by Jackie Lewis, this project started its life as a screenplay which has in turn been turned into a comic book. This is a smart strategy, one we have seen throughout the years, as a comic can serve as storyboard, but more fleshed out. I had the pleasure of reading the first issue, and I got to say, I was very impressed. The book has a cinematic feel, which makes sense with its roots as a screenplay. Wolverton is full of intrigue, the occult and some throwbacks to some literary, iconic characters. An official review will be coming soon!
If you didn’t get the first issue, no worries, there is an option to get both issues on the Kickstarter!
