DSTLRY has been on an impressive streak lately. My journey with DSTLRY began with the book “Gone,” which captivated me instantly. Last month, I picked up my first physical issue, “Spectregraph,” and was thoroughly impressed by its print quality. This time, I dove into “White Boat #1” by two of my favorite creators, Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla.

The story introduces us to twin brothers Lee and Ward during their childhood, enjoying a boating trip with their father—an idyllic moment before tragedy strikes. Suddenly, their boat is submerged, leading to Ward’s death and setting Lee on a turbulent path. Fast forward to adulthood, and we find Lee, a journalist in the Keys, indulging in a hard-partying lifestyle. His life takes a turn when a stranger approaches him with an invitation to visit the legendary White Boat.

The White Boat, a mega yacht owned by the ultra-wealthy, holds its own mystique. Seizing the opportunity, Lee embarks on this adventure, only to discover that the yacht’s opulence conceals a deeper, darker reality that dredges up his past. Marooned on an island, what is the White Boat and its connection to Lee?

Scott Snyder, known for his gripping narratives, delivers a thrilling start with “White Boat.” This maritime horror story is just beginning, and I eagerly anticipate what lies ahead. Francesco Francavilla, a long-time favorite of mine, continues to amaze with his art. His illustrations capture the horror of the sea tragedy, the stunning cityscape, and the eerie magnificence of the White Boat itself, showcasing why he is one of the best in the business.

Moreover, the print quality of this magazine-sized issue is outstanding, featuring a spot gloss cover and high-quality paper, enhancing the experience of this epic beginning. I am fully aboard for what “White Boat” has in store. DSTLRY has done it again, offering a journey you won’t want to miss. “White Boat #1” is a masterpiece—don’t miss the chance to get your hands on it.
