Review: Legends of the Ramayan – Hanuman Action Figure
By Nolan P. Smith

The Ramayan is one of the most legendary epics in human history—an enduring tale of love, honor, loyalty, and divine adventure. The Hierophant Entertainment has taken on the ambitious task of bringing this iconic story to life in the world of action figures, and they’re doing it with the help of the master craftsmen at Four Horsemen Studios.
Thanks to a fully produced Wave 1 that’s already in-hand, fans don’t have to wait long to experience the first entries in The Legends of the Ramayan line. Today, I’m diving into one of the most anticipated figures of the wave: the mighty and heroic Hanuman.
First Impressions
Clocking in at around 8 inches tall, Hanuman is an impressive sight right out of the package. The presentation alone sets the tone—this is not just another action figure, it’s a celebration of a cultural icon brought to life in plastic. The sculpt is intricate, the paint is vibrant, and the overall feel is one of mythic power and presence.
Sculpt & Design
Hanuman’s sculpt is breathtaking. Designed by the legendary Four Horsemen Studios (the team behind Mythic Legions), every detail tells a story—from the textured fur and musculature to the ornate armor and expressive face. The figure perfectly captures the divine monkey warrior in a dynamic, powerful stance that evokes both nobility and readiness for battle.
Included are:
- Two face plates (neutral and snarling)
- Flowing hair attachment
- Five pairs of interchangeable hands
- Golden crown
- Bendy, poseable tail
- Mace (Gada) — Hanuman’s signature weapon
Articulation & Engineering
With 35 points of articulation, Hanuman offers exceptional poseability for dynamic display and photography. Most joints were smooth and functional right out of the box. I did have to heat up the left arm slightly to free it up, but otherwise the figure felt solid and ready to move.
The bendy tail is a standout feature, allowing for a variety of expressive and action-packed poses. However, the lack of articulated toes or feet might limit certain stances, especially if you’re looking for those extreme crouching or leaping poses that Hanuman is known for.
Accessories & Extras
The variety of accessories gives this figure amazing shelf presence and customizability. The alternate head plate adds another layer of personality—though I would’ve loved to see a third, more aggressive “screaming” head sculpt for those intense battle poses. More expressive portraits could take this already incredible figure to another level.
Final Thoughts
Hanuman is more than just a toy—it’s a piece of art, a tribute to a legendary character, and a sign of the care and craftsmanship going into this entire Legends of the Ramayan line. From its epic scale and sculpt to its thoughtful articulation and accessories, this figure is a must-have for collectors and fans of mythic storytelling.
Better yet, Wave 1 is already produced and ready, and the Kickstarter campaign for Wave 2 is live now! Characters like Prince Rama (in two variations), Lakshmana, and the fearsome Ravana are on deck. But if you’re looking to jump into the line now, Hanuman is your heroic starting point.

Rating: 4.5 Pastrami Nations out of 5
A powerful figure with stunning detail and smart articulation. A few minor tweaks—like more expressive head options or articulated feet—could’ve pushed it to perfection. Still, Hanuman stands tall as a divine warrior and collector’s dream.
