Action Figure Review: Annex 2179 Hiro

The Annex 2179 line of figures from Toys Alliance got me back into Acid Rain 1/18 scale figures. I loved the original Acid Rain figures- the details, the excellent storage container packaging they came in, they were like the Hot Toys of 1/18 scale figures. But I eventually stopped collecting Acid Rain until Annex 2179 hit. The line is a futuristic and colorful world of gunslingers and vile villains. Today, let’s take a look at one of the most visually striking figures, Hiro.
The figure comes in a purple storage box container, complete with 2 PT Katanas. 2 PT Wakizashis, 2 Knife sheaths, a PT battery, a Battery container, and a Battery security lock. The figure is impressive- a combination of muted oranges, teal, and black, with a fantastic transparent headpiece that showcases Hiro’s brain. If you have ever had an Acid Rain figure, you know the drill on articulation: ball-jointed head, double-jointed knees, articulation at the feet, knees, thighs, waist, torso, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and such. The figure is impressive and stands out in the world of 3.75-inch figures.
The weapons gave me some issues, as the hilt of one of the swords snapped off while trying to get it into Hiro’s hand. The weapons are unique, just a bit on the fragile side. The swords fit well into the double sheaths on each side of the figure.
I am incredibly impressed with this figure. It would be a perfect figure if the weapons were a bit more durable. Annex 2179’s Hiro is a welcome addition to my collection, and I bet you will dig it too. Track it down while you can; you won’t regret it.
