Action Figure Review: Pocket Universe Bramble MK8

I have been a fan of Ashley Wood’s art for many years. His ability to create memorable robots and characters is uncanny. Yet, his Brambles and Popbots have always been 1/6 scale and a tad out of my normal price range for collectibles. But with Underverse, we now get the Pocket Universe, which brings the Australian artists’ designs to the smaller 1/18th scale. Today I am checking out the Bramble MK8-666 Corp.

This smaller-scale bot is my first ever Bramble, which I am super excited about. I love the Brambles designs; this one looks fantastic in its brown decor. Clocking in at 4.5 inches, the weathering, the intricate design elements, and the decals make this Bramble stand out. This figure also comes with a gun, but when you are a walking armored tank, one gun is all you need. I love the weight of this figure- I am thrilled to see this figure join my 1/18th scale collection.

Articulation is always a factor for me, and this figure excels here. With 14 points of articulation, this is articulation that complements the design of the Bramble. It works perfectly with the design of the arms and legs- no ugly cuts for articulation here. You can really maximize the number of poses you can get for displaying these excellent figures with this well-placed articulation.

The downside would be the fragile nature of the wrist joints, as mine had a hand snap right off. It is very frustrating for a higher-end figure to break when placing the gun in his hand. This is a major, glaring flaw for an otherwise amazing figure.

Underverse is making it easy for everyone to add some Bramble awesomeness to their collection with the Pocket Universe line. I am impressed with thiis pocket sized wonder- it really is hard to top Ashley Wood’s fantastic bot designs. I just hope the fragile wrist are addressed with future releases.
