Child’s Play Creates More Than 30 Pediatric Gaming and Technology Specialist Positions at Children’s Hospitals Around the Globe
By Staff Reports
Child’s Play, the game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and teens in children’s hospitals around the world, established by Penny Arcade and PAX cofounders Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, announces that it has created 31 Pediatric Gaming and Technology Specialist positions at children’s hospitals around the globe through its 2021 grant program, an increase of the 18 positions established in 2020.
Funded through cash donations to Child’s Play, these specialists are responsible for introducing and maintaining gaming and technology products for patients in children’s hospitals. This includes the first position of its kind in Kenya at the Sally Test Child Life program in Eldoret, Kenya.
Additionally, they help doctors, nurses, and staff by showing how they can incorporate games and technology into their therapy, such as using virtual reality to help children during painful procedures.
The 501 (c)(3) charity has raised more than $50 million since its founding in 2003, and supports more than 190 hospitals around the world through its programs.
