I first heard about Axe Cop in late 2010, and wow, was I blown away. Created by brothers Malachai and Ethan Nicolle, the book did something I had never seen: it put a child in the writer’s chair. You see, Malachai was a five year old kid when this all started back in 2009, and with help from his older brother, they brought out something that is so pure in imagination, that it was bound to blow up big. Now, three volumes of Axe Cop have been collected so far, and with President of the World, we enter another chapter in this crazy universe. Does it hold the original flare that the world saw before, or does Axe Cop begin to grow a bit dull?

Story: The story of Axe Cop is so crazy, so strange, that it really should be experienced firsthand. What you need to know is he’s a tough cop with an axe that has been made President of the World. Crazy enough? Created by the now 8-year-old Malachai and his 31-year-old brother Ethan, the book bursts with energy, with action and with the imagination of a young child running wild. From creating a capitol of the world, talking to God, and preparing for a war that is extremely far away time wise, this book continues with what made Axe Cop a must read.

Art: Though the writing process uses both brothers, Ethan’s art chores should not be ignored. The man is extremely talented in what he does, and has created some of the most memorable designs in comic books. From the iconic Axe Cop with his trusted axe, to a dinosaur with machine gun arms, this book adds even more: like a goo cop. Very vibrant, the art catches you right away and doesn’t let go.

Overall: The comic book art form is something so special, so unique. The stories you can tell with and in-between the panels of a comic book page are endless. The Nicolle brothers craft yet another triumph in the medium, bringing to life the imagination of a child with the talents of an amazing illustrator. I recommend this to all who want to check out something fresh, something new, and something that embodies our much beloved art form of comic books. Highly Recommended, I give Axe Cop: President of the World #1 a perfect ***** out of 5. This earns it the ranking of WELL DONE, the highest ranking for a review.
