The Power Lords action figure line and its accompanying comic series were a beloved part of the 80s, bringing interstellar adventure to fans everywhere. Fast forward to 2025, and thanks to Oni Press and the Nacelle Company, we’re treated to a nostalgic revival with Power Lords #1. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this is a thrilling reintroduction to the saga of Adam Power and his crew.

Written by Dennis Culver (Unstoppable Doom Patrol), with storytelling support from Matt Hotson (Power Rangers: The Return), and art by V Ken Marion (Green Lantern), this issue plunges us straight into the action. We kick off with an alien attack as Adam Power and his allies battle the menacing Arkus. The chaos escalates when a wormhole hurls Adam across time and space, costing him the gem that grants his immense power. One year later, on Planet Miltron, we find Adam as a smuggler with a new crew, still searching for a way home. Just as hope sparks with a new discovery, Adam comes face-to-face with the ruthless Raygoth, the Goon of Doom.

Culver and Hotson craft a fast-paced, high-stakes story that immerses readers from page one. The narrative offers a perfect entry point for those unfamiliar with the Power Lords mythos, with the world-building unfolding naturally as the story progresses. Marion’s artwork adds a dynamic, animated feel to the sci-fi adventure, capturing the spirit of the original designs while giving them a modern upgrade. The vibrant character designs and energetic visuals pay homage to the 80s while feeling fresh and exciting.

Oni Press and Nacelle are building something special with their NacelleVerse, and Power Lords adds a unique flavor to the mix. This issue stands out from other Nacelle titles with its distinct tone and high-octane storytelling, making it a worthy addition to the growing universe.

Rating: FOUR Pastrami Nations out of FIVE.

A nostalgic blast with a modern twist—don’t miss this interstellar adventure!
