Punisher #218 Review- How to Make a Marvel’s Deadliest Weapon Deadlier
The Punisher gets the ultimate weapon
By Nolan P. Smith
With Marvel Legacy, Marvel has made every one of their books a new jumping on point, yet returned the books to their original numbering. For Frank Castle, AKA the Punisher, this means a whole new go around with guns blazing. But this time around, Frank suits up in a whole new way.
From writer Matthew Rosenberg (who is responsible for the awesome titles We Can Never Go Home and 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank from Black Mask) and artist Guiu Vilanova (Dark Shadows), this is a very cool jumping on point for readers. For those not in the know, Frank Castle is a man on a mission, to stop crime by any means necessary as the vigilante known as the Punisher. But when the opportunity comes up to suit up using the old War Machine armor, it looks like Frank has a brand new bag of tricks.
Rosenberg creates a very inviting issue, one that fans of, say, the new Punisher Netflix series, can easily pick up and enjoy. The idea of giving the world’s most dangerous vigilante a suit of armor and a brand new arsenal, it makes me wonder how this never happened before. Vilanova does a fantastic job of creating the mood here for Frank and company, and has me waiting for the next issue.
Marvel made a smart move here, one that, for the first time in years, will have me adding the Punisher to my monthly pull list. An excellent issue, check out the beginning of armored awesomeness right here.
