Red Sands – Episode 2: “A Reckoning” Review

The second episode of “Red Sands” introduces a new character as the stakes rise and danger looms ever closer.
Created by Michael Barrett and Joshua Ampuero, this episode features a seemingly chance meeting between Eddie (Michael Barrett) and Myra (Tiffanie Kendra). Eddie is quickly smitten, but his brother Hunter (TJ Wimbs) remains wary of new faces, and with good reason. Myra’s true intentions soon come to light as all-out war erupts at Hunter’s home with Rodrigo (Carlos E. Campos) and his men, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake.
This episode delves into more adult situations than the previous one, with the introduction of Eddie’s love interest. The action is intense, featuring thrilling indie-style shootouts. The story progresses rapidly, with new characters appearing and exiting before the credits roll. The musical score is particularly noteworthy, hauntingly underscoring the severity of the scenes. Barrett and Wimbs continue to mesh well as the leads, while Myra adds depth to the shady characters surrounding the brothers.
The episode ends with several cliffhangers, including the uncertain fate of some main characters after the shootout. I eagerly anticipate episode three to see if the brothers can escape Rodrigo’s clutches or if they are on a march toward a deadly finale.
