Sam And Colby: Legends Of The Paranormal Review

The other night, my daughter and I went to watch the Sam and Colby movie Legends Of The Paranormal, and we had a blast. Through her, I have become a fan of them, and we enjoy their YouTube channel together. She’s 13, and sometimes it feels like it’s hard to connect with her, but our shared love of the paranormal is still intact. These guys keep that strong, and I’m thankful that we got to experience this film together.

For those of you who are not in the know, Sam and Colby are currently two of the biggest names in the world of paranormal investigation. Their YouTube channel has amassed a following of 13 million subscribers with no signs of slowing down. Their videos are entertaining and spooky, and they have fun history lessons on the places they investigate. They have been everywhere, from The Conjuring House to The Stanley Hotel. In The Legends Of The Paranormal, they take on one of the most famous paranormal hotspots in the world, the well-known Mount Wilson Ranch in Nevada.

The ranch is known for its history of every supernatural phenomena you can think of and is enveloped by a mysterious past involving Native Americans and extraterrestrials. It is also known by a different name that I won’t type out here (feel free to look it up) because of the amount of “flesh pedestrian” sightings and experiences documented in the area. It is a crazy place that has captured the imagination of paranormal enthusiasts for decades. In this movie, along with their friend Nate, Sam and Colby attempt to uncover the mystery of the land once and for all.

So, this isn’t a typical movie, but it does abide by a specific formula. It is cut into three parts and has a beginning, middle, and end. You know what you will get depending on your familiarity with their YouTube videos. It feels like a combination of found footage and reality TV, utilizing the best of both worlds. The camera cuts between them investigating in a dark room to them having a conversation about things that happen and what they are planning to do. At one point, they discuss doing a ritual that eventually comes to fruition, and you can’t help but feel their anxiety about it.

One of the cool things about Sam and Colby is that they keep the love of the unknown alive and are introducing a whole new generation to it. They use a combination of traditional and innovative techniques that open up a world of possibilities to those interested in the art of ghost hunting. I have always believed that we are all part of the mystery surrounding the paranormal, and understanding what it is means understanding more about us. Our histories, cultures, and beliefs may differ, but we are all part of something bigger that unites us all. This movie exemplifies that in a big way, and I encourage everybody to watch it to understand what I mean.

All in all, The Legends Of The Paranormal was a good time. It reminded me of watching Jackass on the big screen, albeit way less crude and with more spooky stuff. Sam, Colby, and Nate are charming as hell and know how to keep the audience invested and entertained. Say what you will about “reality” TV and ghost hunting in general, but there is nothing wrong with loving what you love, and I find this world fascinating. This movie may not be for everyone, but I highly recommend checking it out if it sounds like your thing.
