Advance Review: Redlands #2 from Image Comics

RedlandsBy Amie Macias

When last we left Jordie Bellaire and Vanesa R. Del Rey’s wicked trio they were claiming the town of Redlands.

This issue opens up on Bridget, Alice, and Ro now running the town.  Acting as detectives in the police department, with the help of a lackey or two, they set out to solve a series of mysterious (yet artistic) deaths surrounding the town.  Can they figure out who the serial killer is before the three sisters are exposed for who and what they really are?  With hints about Zuzu that lead us into thinking there seems to be more to our lovely ladies than we previously assumed…

Del Rey’s artwork is the perfect fit for this R-rated horror mystery. The blood flows deep, and the contrast here makes for a great landscape for Bellaire’s thrilling tale. If blood and nudity aren’t your cup of tea, perhaps a different drink is needed, as this book has plenty of both, but all warranted for this modern day horror story.

I love how they used a rune on the last page to give hint towards the outcome and I can’t wait for issue #3 to come out!!!

Make sure you grab this issue (#2), when it hits the shelves 9/13!  Lucky for us no virginal sacrifice will be needed.

Rating: I give it a 9.0 out of 10.
