Bloodshot: Reborn #0 Review: Nothing Gold Can Stay

Bloodshot: Reborn #0Valiant’s resident tough guy gets a status quo shake-up in Bloodshot: Reborn #0

By Nolan P. Smith

Ray Garrison, aka Bloodshot, is one of the most no nonsense, kick ass, ask questions later kind of heroes you will ever see. With Bloodshot: Reborn #0, we get an issue that wraps up the loose ends from the previous series, all while giving us a glimpse into what the future holds.

From writer Jeff Lemire and Renato Guedes, this book is a great way to wrap up the past storylines, We see what happened to some of the other Bloodshots, where Deathmate is these days, and if Magic and Bloodshot worked things through in their relationship. Lemire does another superb job here as he sets the stage for the next chapter in Bloodshot’s life, and Guedes crafts an excellent visual landscape for the story to breathe.

There isn’t a whole lot of action here, but for a zero issue, that is completely okay. This book leads the charge to the next big Bloodshot series, that being Bloodshot: Salvation, which hits this fall. By the end of the book, it looks like Ray has finally found a happy ending: but as the poet Robert Frost said, “Nothing gold can stay.” This is a great issue to wrap up the past and look towards a bright future.
