Red Sands: Episode 4 – “Rock Springs” Review

The time has come. We have reached the end of the road for “Red Sands.” Everything has been building to this point: who lives, who dies, and what lies ahead? That’s what I aimed to find out.
Created by Michael Barrett, Joshua Ampuero, and TJ Wimbs, “Red Sands” follows an ex-military soldier and his brother as they take on a cartel after their lives are turned upside down by death and a past they can’t escape.
In “Rock Springs,” the illicit Rodrigo (Carlos E. Campos) calls for peace talks. But Hunter (TJ Wimbs) and Eddie (Michael Barrett) aren’t going in unprepared. Eddie calls in an old friend who knows a thing or two about knocking heads. The showdown occurs, with Rodrigo’s men outnumbering our motley crew, but the tide turns with a mystery shooter. When it’s all said and done, more danger lurks in the shadows, hinting at a possible impending second season.
I enjoyed the previous episode more than this finale, but it was well-executed. During this episode, we learned how the pandemic led all the characters to the crossroads they are at now. The showdown is well-planned, with some fantastic shots, both cinematic and literal. The ending felt earned, wrapping up the series nicely while leaving the door open for a sequel if the creative team chooses to pursue it.
Overall, I enjoyed “Red Sands” as a series. It was action-packed with fast-paced sequences and characters you rooted for. Be sure to watch the series today on Tubi and Prime Video!
