Comic Book Review- Saga #10 -Come Together

As the poet Robert Frost once said, “nothing gold can stay.” A truer statement couldn’t be said, especially when looking at Saga #10, by Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples. The tension builds, the chess pieces are all in place: now, it’s time to see what happens.

Now, I should be upfront and say that I am not referencing the quality of work here: Vaughn continues to craft a story with such depth, such emotion, that Saga is actually the perfect title for it. Staples once again shows how to create a space faring book and make it feel epic, which is no surprise to anyone who has been following the book. No, I am speaking of the plot of the story that has been building since day one, and how it is all coming together now.

I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that the characters on the run and the ones doing the hunting are coming to a boiling point. Marko and Alana are learning more and more from the most unlikely of visitors: his parents. The Will is now working with Marko’s ex, both hellbent on finding the fugitive couple, and this issue helps kick it all into hyper-drive. Plus, we see Marko finally find his half ghost of a babysitter, who isn’t in the best of situations. By the end of the book, I was literally speechless, wanting there to be more and more to read, more to get absorbed in, but alas, I must wait like everyone else. THAT is the mark of a truly epic saga. Highly recommended, I give Saga #10 a perfect @@@@@ out of FIVE. If you aren’t reading Saga yet: what are you waiting for?
