One Marvel Show is Cancelled, the Other is Renewed for Another Season

It is a bittersweet day for fans of Marvel Comic’s latest duo of animated series.

Today came the announcement that Disney XD’s Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes will not be renewed for another series. The animated series brought to life some of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Universe, from the Black Panther, Power Man, Iron Fist and the Guardians of the Galaxy to name just a few. This comes as little surprise, as word going around this past week was that the show would be getting the axe in favor of a new series. Here is directly from the press release:

The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be renewed for the 3rd Season. Marvel Animation will present their newly developed series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in 2013.

In more positives news, Ultimate Spider-Man has been renewed for another season. The quirky show features a high school aged Peter Parker teaming up with other young heroes such as Nova, White Tiger, Iron Fist and Power Man. With a unique blend of action and comedy that brings up memories of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, the show clearly caught on enough for another season. Look for appearances by this year’s smash franchise, the Avengers.
