Pastrami Nation and Apollo Restaurant Brightened the Holidays with their Christmas Giveaway
By Staff Reports
On December 15th, Pastrami Nation and Apollo Restaurant held their Christmas Giveaway in a socially distanced fashion, spreading holiday cheer through the pandemic.
The High Desert based pop culture news website and podcast Pastrami Nation has held a Christmas Giveaway for the past four years here in the High Desert. This year was the largest turnout so far, with 115 people signing up to receive a free toy. Apollo Restaurant surprised ten random families with a free turkey as well.
“We just wanted to make the holidays a little brighter; it’s the whole reason we started the giveaway,” said Pastrami Nation’s Editor in Chief Nolan P. Smith. “Thanks to Apollo, as well as donations from Bluefin Brands and members of the community, we were able to surpass what we donated last year and hopefully bring joy to more families in the High Desert.”
The giveaway was spaced out with families arriving in staggered time slots. Toys were given to families in a drive-thru fashion, with families staying in their cars and everyone wearing masks and staying a healthy distance from each other.
“We knew the giveaway would look different this year with the pandemic,” said Smith. “But this year, it was more important than ever to hold a toy giveaway.”
