Real Rap Song of the Day-"One of Four" by Aesop Rock
“But I guess, sometimes, when you can’t breathe, there are people there to breathe for you…”
These are the words at the end of one of the best rap songs many have never heard. New York born Aesop Rock has been ripping the stage since the 90’s, known as an indie legend in the industry. His style is unparalleled: strong statement, I know, but one listen to him and you will agree. Some of his hits include “Daylight”, the flip-side to Daylight “Nightlight”, and one of my personal favorites “Battery”. Yet, the most personal song he has made thus far has to be “One of Four”; a haunting romp through one of the worst times in Aesop’s life, and those that helped him while he was “Walking with the dead”. Funny thing is, “One of Four” is a hidden track off of his Daylight EP, hiding at the last five minutes of the last song. So here it is, enjoy, and be on the look out for Aesop’s newest release, Skelethon, this July from Rhymesayers. For more info on Aesop, visit the Rhymesayers site at www.rhymesayers.com/aesoprock.
