Dungeons & Dragons- Evil at Baldur’s Gate #1 Review

By Jesse Ramirez

This first issue from IDW Publishing, written by Jim Zub and illustrated by Dean Kotz, chronicles a return to Baldur’s Gate by a group of heroes led by Minsc the Mighty and his thirst for justice!

The issue strikes me as something a non comic reader would expect from a comic, in a good way! Comics have evolved over the years, with complex characters and intricate plot lines becoming more and more prevalent in comics. This issue brought it back to basics, even down to the character names, like Minsc the Mighty and Kriger the Courageous.

Evil at Baldur’s Gate is a return to the roots of what makes comic books great, an entertaining and righteous hero versus an evil yet mysterious villain. I thought the artwork and character designs added even more to this element, with crisp designs that complimented both the characters and the story.

If you love comics and new stories, I’d definitely suggest checking this issue out, I have a feeling things are about to heat up and the plot will start to thicken. I’ll be waiting for the next!
