Stellar #1 Review- It’s Stellar!

Stellar #1 Review- It’s Stellar!

By Jesse Ramirez

Image Comics’ Stellar #1 sets up an interesting premise to what will surely be a lengthy series. This first issue is no doubt the tip of the iceberg, and it’s already got my full interest!

Stellar #1 is a space story, which can be difficult to maneuver, but it seems the writers have done a great job thus far at setting up a series with originality and real entertainment value. I was instantly sold on the interesting character dynamic between Stellar and her companion/prisoner Melan Karkinos. Melan is set up as a sort of comic relief to match the grizzled and bruting nature of Stellar, and so far I can’t wait to see how that relationship continues to develop. Another amazing aspect of this first issue is Stellar’s backstory. Though not fully revealed, readers will find that this story is one unlike a lot of other tired tropes we’ve seen before, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Writer Joseph Keatinge and longtime industry artist Bret Blevins create something special here. This first issue already has me hooked, and I’m sure you will be too! Make sure you don’t miss out on what will surely be an entertaining series!
